- Menus will
take into account different age groups.
- Staff preparing
food will complete an accredited Food Handlers course.
- All staff
involved in food preparation will understand the principles of
hygiene.
- Food will
be stored and served at safe temperatures.
- Menus will
be cyclic and seasonal, incorporating fresh vegetables and fruit.
- Menus will
be planned using the Dietary guidelines for children.
- Recipes
and food awareness activities will be chosen from a variety of
cultures.
- Special
occasions will be celebrated with culturally appropriate food.
- Staff will
actively participate at meal times, sharing the same food with
children.
- Water will
be available at all times.
- Children
will wash their hands prior to eating or handling food.
- Meal times
will include discussion on food.
- Food will
not be used as a form of punishment either be its provision or
denial
- Parents
will be advised if their child is not eating well.
- Parents
of children on special diets will be asked to provide details
of food needs.
- Parents
will be discouraged from bringing lollies or sweets for their
child
- Children
will be given the opportunity to grow vegetables.
